Brunswick Strategy bowling ball features dual-density asymmetric core and HK22C² coverstock for versatile performance during early transition from heavy oil conditions.
Description
Brunswick Strategy — Pro Performance Pearl Built for Transition
Your Move When the Pattern Starts to Open Up
The Brunswick Strategy joins the Pro Performance lineup with a specific job. It’s your transition ball. When your heavy oil equipment starts hooking too early, the Strategy steps in. It pairs a new Dual Centric asymmetric core with Brunswick’s HK22C² EVO Pearl Reactive coverstock. The finish is 500, 1000, 1500 Siaair with Crown Factory Compound. The result is clean length with a defined, angular backend.
Brunswick built this ball to fill the gap between your strongest equipment and medium oil pieces. It lets you keep moving and stay competitive as lanes change. The dual-density core design is new for Brunswick. It also features DynamiCore2 outer core technology and Durability Optimization Technology (DOT). Both are meaningful upgrades over previous generation equipment. If you compete in leagues or tournaments, the Strategy earns its spot in your bag.

🎓 Understanding the Dual Centric Core and HK22C² EVO Pearl
2.50 RG — Mid-Range Roll for Versatile Lane Reading
The Dual Centric core’s 2.50 RG at 15 lb sits in the medium range. The ball doesn’t rev up too early in the heads. It also doesn’t push too far before engaging. You get a balanced roll that reads the midlane predictably. Paired with the pearl coverstock, this RG creates clean length through the front. The core saves energy for a strong move at the breakpoint. That mid-range read is what makes this ball work during transition.
0.047 Differential — Strong Flare Without Excess
A 0.047 differential produces 4 to 5 inches of track flare. That’s strong enough to create separation at the breakpoint. But it’s not so aggressive that the ball overreacts on medium conditions. Each revolution puts fresh coverstock on the lane surface. More fresh surface means more friction when you need it most. The flare generates a defined backend shape. It’s angular but controllable. That balance is what makes the Strategy effective during transition.
0.016 Intermediate Differential — Asymmetric Angle at the Breakpoint
The 0.016 intermediate differential is the mass bias. It creates an additional preferred spin axis in the core. That makes the ball’s breakpoint sharper and more angular. A symmetric ball with the same RG and diff would produce a rounder motion. The asymmetry adds that extra edge at the breakpoint. For drilling, the mass bias gives your pro shop a third reference point. They can fine-tune how the ball transitions from skid to hook.
How HK22C² EVO Pearl Creates the Transition Shape
HK22C² is the latest evolution of Brunswick’s HK22 coverstock platform. The EVO Pearl version pushes through oil cleanly in the front of the lane. When the ball reaches the breakpoint, it responds quickly to friction. The Crown Factory Compound finish over 1500 Siaair maximizes length. That clean-then-angular shape is ideal for transition conditions. Your heavier oil equipment grabs too early as lanes open up. The Strategy’s pearl coverstock doesn’t. It gets downlane and makes its move at the right time.
DynamiCore2 and DOT — What’s New Inside
The Strategy features DynamiCore2, the next generation of Brunswick’s outer core technology. DynamiCore2 mimics thick-shell hitting power and durability. It reduces energy loss at impact for better pin carry. The ball also features Durability Optimization Technology (DOT). DOT is a patent-pending advancement that improves the ball’s long-term durability. Together, these technologies give the Strategy a performance edge over previous-generation equipment.

💡 BowlersMart Tips: Using the Strategy During Transition
When to Make the Switch
The Strategy enters your game when your stronger equipment starts reading too early. That usually happens mid-block in league or mid-round in tournament play. The heads dry out and your solid or hybrid grabs before the breakpoint. When that happens, the Strategy’s pearl coverstock pushes through the front cleanly. You get the length back. The angular backend still creates angle to the pocket. You can keep moving without losing striking power.
Where It Fits in a Brunswick Arsenal
Think of the Strategy as your second or third ball in a three-ball set. Your first ball handles fresh oil with a solid or hybrid coverstock. The Strategy takes over during early transition. A weaker pearl or urethane ball handles late transition or dry conditions. This sequencing keeps you competitive across an entire session. The Dual Centric core gives the Strategy enough power for medium-heavy conditions. But the pearl coverstock keeps it clean enough for when lanes open up.
Surface Adjustments
The factory finish maximizes length and backend response. Keep it polished for the strongest skid/flip shape. If you need earlier read, take it down to 2000 or 3000 grit. That adds midlane traction without killing the pearl’s character. Going below 2000 grit changes the ball’s identity. At that point, you’re better off reaching for a hybrid or solid.
When the Strategy Gets Overmatched
Heavy oil with no breakpoint definition will overpower this ball. The pearl coverstock needs friction at the breakpoint to activate. If the oil carries all the way to the pins, the ball won’t make its move. That’s not a flaw. That’s what your solid and hybrid equipment handles. The Strategy’s strength is transition and medium-heavy conditions. Don’t ask it to be a heavy oil ball.
Coverstock Maintenance
Pearl coverstocks absorb oil over time. When they do, the clean length through the front diminishes. Wipe the ball with an approved cleaner after every session. If the ball starts reading earlier or loses its sharp backend, resurface it. A full resurface back to the factory finish restores the original reaction.
