Description
An Earlier-Reading, Strong Asymmetric for Heavy Oil
About the Combat Hybrid
The Brunswick Combat Hybrid is the earlier-reading, stronger version of the Combat. It pairs the asymmetric Rampart Core with the Alpha Premier Hybrid coverstock at a sanded finish, so it reads the midlane early and makes a strong, controllable move through the pins on medium to heavy oil. It is the traction-first piece of the Combat pair.
The Combat Hybrid shares the strong Rampart asymmetric core with the Combat but wraps it in a sanded hybrid cover. The Alpha Premier Hybrid reads the midlane earlier than the polished Combat pearl, so the Hybrid reads sooner and rolls stronger, giving you an early, defined asymmetric shape when the lane has more oil.
Understanding the Brunswick Rampart Core and Brunswick Alpha Premier Hybrid Reactive
Brunswick built the Combat Hybrid for an early, strong asymmetric read on medium to heavy oil. Specifically, the asymmetric Rampart Core posts a 2.502 RG, a strong .051 differential, and a .019 intermediate differential for high flare and a defined breakpoint, while the Alpha Premier Hybrid cover at a 2000-grit finish reads the midlane early and drives through the pins. As a result, it gives you a strong, controllable asymmetric motion. The per-weight specifications are listed below.
A Strong Asymmetric Core, Shared With the Combat
At the heart of the Combat Hybrid is the same asymmetric Rampart Core used in the Combat. At 15 lb it measures a 2.502 RG, a strong .051 differential, and a .019 intermediate differential, a combination that produces high track flare and a defined, asymmetric breakpoint.
Brunswick wraps the Rampart core in DynamiCore for added durability and a stronger hitting ball. Pairing this strong core with a sanded hybrid cover is what gives the Combat Hybrid its early, strong read, and because it is asymmetric, your pro shop can tune the layout to your game.
A Sanded Hybrid Cover for an Early, Strong Read
The Combat Hybrid wraps that core in Brunswick’s Alpha Premier Hybrid Reactive coverstock at a 2000-grit finish. As a hybrid at a sanded finish, the cover reads the midlane early and grabs medium to heavy oil, so the ball gets into a strong roll and drives through the pins rather than skidding too far down the lane.
That early, traction-first read is what separates the Combat Hybrid from the polished Combat pearl: it reads sooner and rolls stronger, making it the choice when the lane has more oil. Leave it at the 2000-grit box finish for medium to heavy oil, take the surface lower for more traction, or polish it up for a cleaner, longer look as the lanes dry.

Who This Ball Is Right For
✓Tournament Players: An early-reading, strong asymmetric for medium to heavy fresh oil
✓Higher-Rev Bowlers: The strong Rampart core and sanded hybrid cover reward revs with an early, continuous shape
✓Power Players: Early midlane read and strong flare to clear oil and keep driving through the pins
✓Arsenal Builders: The early-reading, sanded version of the Combat, paired with the cleaner Combat pearl
Good to Know Before You Buy
·Strong, aggressive motion: This is a high-flare piece built for traction. If you want a controlled, lower-hook reaction, a lower-differential ball will suit you better.
·Ships sanded for traction: The 2000 Grit finish is built to grip in oil. Polish it for more length when the volume drops.
·Asymmetric layout sensitivity: Layout choices shift the reaction more than on a symmetric ball. Match the pin and mass bias to your game with your pro shop.
·Sold undrilled: Ships without finger holes, so it can be fitted to your hand and span.
BowlersMart Tips: Where the Combat Hybrid Fits in Your Brunswick Arsenal
Where It Fits in Your Arsenal
In the Brunswick lineup, the Combat Hybrid is the early-reading, traction-first version of the Combat. It shares the Rampart core with the Combat, but the sanded hybrid cover reads sooner and rolls stronger than the polished pearl. Throw the Combat Hybrid on fresh medium to heavy oil, then move to the Combat for more length and angle as the lane transitions.
Surface Adjustments
The 2000-grit finish gives the Combat Hybrid its early, strong read. Take the surface lower for more traction on heavier oil, or polish it up for a cleaner, longer look as the lanes dry. Have surface changes done at your pro shop for an even, consistent finish.
Coverstock Care
Wipe the Alpha Premier cover with an approved reactive ball cleaner after every session, and deep clean it periodically. A sanded hybrid like the Combat Hybrid relies on a fresh, clean surface to keep reading the midlane early.
