Getting the fit right

Check the fit

Bowling shoes should fit snug with no heel slip. Most bowlers wear their normal street size.

Check the width

Width matters as much as length. A shoe that pinches or slides will throw off your approach.

Know your slide foot

Your slide foot wears a slide sole so it glides into the line. Your other foot wears a braking sole that grips so you can stop.

Match the approach

Interchangeable soles let you swap a slide or heel piece for different approaches. A sticky floor calls for a different setup than a slick one.

Need help choosing?

A BowlersMart pro shop can help you find the right width and sole setup for your bowling center.

Questions bowlers ask

Should bowling shoes fit tight or loose?

Snug, with no heel slip. Your slide foot needs to stay locked in so the sole does the work. Most bowlers wear their normal street size.

What is the difference between a slide sole and a braking sole?

The slide sole lets your finishing foot glide into the line. The other shoe has a rubber sole that grips so you can push off and stop. Right-handers slide on the left foot.

Are interchangeable soles worth it?

If you bowl in different centers or leagues, yes. Swapping a slide sole or heel lets you adjust to sticky or slick approaches in seconds.

How often does this ranking change?

Every month, from the last full calendar month of BowlersMart orders and verified reviews.

Can I wear bowling shoes outside?

No. Dirt and water on the slide sole will make it stick or skid on the approach. Change into them at the lanes.

Why is a shoe from years ago still in the top 10?

A shoe earns its spot from real sales, not its age. Bowlers keep buying a comfortable, well-built shoe for years.
