Motiv Orion Nebula Bowling Ball

A Benchmark Solid With Extra Shape Down-Lane

About the Orion Nebula

The Motiv Orion Nebula is the first solid in the Nebula series, and Motiv built it as a step up from the original Nebula: more traction and more control, while keeping some of the down-lane motion that made the Nebula stand out. It sits at the center of the Motiv ball guide, but Motiv is clear that this is not a typical benchmark ball. The idea is benchmark control with more shape than a benchmark usually gives you.

Inside is the same dual-density Hadron Core found in the original Nebula, now wrapped in the new Dynamic Leverage Solid Reactive coverstock at a 3000 grit LSP finish. The result is a fast but controlled response to friction on medium oil. Like all of Motiv’s high performance equipment, it is made in the U.S.A.

Understanding the Motiv Hadron Dual Density Core and Motiv Dynamic Leverage Solid Reactive

Motiv built the Orion Nebula for medium oil, for bowlers who want a benchmark ball that still creates shape. The Hadron core’s higher RG and moderate differential keep it stable and controllable, and the Dynamic Leverage solid cover gives a moderate response to friction that adapts as the lane changes. The full per-weight specifications are listed below.

The Same Engine That Powers the Nebula

At the heart of the Orion Nebula is the Hadron Core, the same dual-density symmetric core that powers the original Nebula. At 15 lb it measures a 2.50 RG and a .045 differential. The dual-density design pairs stability with stored energy, so the ball stays predictable through the front and still has drive through the pins.

Motiv’s own description is that the Hadron gives the Orion Nebula the engine it needs to create shape without becoming unpredictable. The higher RG and moderate differential are what make it a benchmark-style core, and the stored energy is what keeps the back end lively.

A New Solid Cover Built for Control Over Your Trajectory

Wrapped around the core is the new Dynamic Leverage Solid Reactive coverstock, finished at 3000 grit LSP. Motiv developed Dynamic Leverage to give bowlers more control over their trajectory. It delivers a moderate response to friction, which lets the Orion Nebula adapt as the lane environment changes.

That moderate response is tunable. Shined, the Dynamic Leverage cover can be moderately fast in its response to friction. With some surface, it lets the bowler focus on control. It ships at a 3000 grit LSP polish, the shined end of that range, so adding surface is the move when you want it to focus on control.
