Description
Track Synthesis — I-Core Gen4 Power for Medium-Heavy Oil
The I-Core Evolves to Gen4
The I-Core has been one of Track’s most recognized core designs for years. The Track Synthesis introduces the fourth generation. The I-Core Gen4 is an asymmetric core with increased intermediate differential. That means a sharper, more angular breakpoint than previous I-Core versions. Paired with QR-12 Solid Reactive coverstock at 1500 Grit, the Synthesis delivers aggressive motion on medium-to-heavy oil conditions.
This is a high-performance ball in Track’s lineup. The numbers are serious. A 2.48 RG, 0.053 differential, and 0.020 mass bias produce 5 to 6 inches of track flare. The QR-12 Solid coverstock reads the midlane with confidence. The 1500 Grit finish adds more length than a typical sanded solid. The result is a ball that grips the midlane, builds momentum, and finishes with strong continuation through the pins.

🎓 Understanding the I-Core Gen4 and QR-12 Solid
2.48 RG — Low RG for Early Engagement on Oil
The I-Core Gen4’s 2.48 RG at 15 lb is low. The core revs up quickly after release. It engages the lane early and reads the midlane with authority. On medium-to-heavy oil, that early engagement is essential. The ball picks up the pattern rather than skating through it. The low RG ensures the ball starts its transition in the midlane. It builds energy toward the breakpoint instead of conserving it all for the backend.
0.053 Differential — High Flare for Maximum Hook Potential
A 0.053 differential is among the highest you’ll find in Track’s current lineup. It produces 5 to 6 inches of track flare. That level of flare creates significant total hook. Each revolution puts fresh coverstock on the lane surface. More fresh surface means more friction at the breakpoint. The ball moves boards aggressively. This is not a subtle ball motion. It’s designed to create a strong, defined shape on oil-heavy conditions.
0.020 Intermediate Differential — Sharp Angular Breakpoint
The 0.020 mass bias is the highest in this description batch so far. It creates a pronounced preferred spin axis in the core. That makes the breakpoint sharper and more angular than lower mass bias designs. The I-Core Gen4 specifically increased the intermediate differential over previous generations. That was intentional. Track wanted a more angular response at the breakpoint. The result is a ball that doesn’t arc smoothly to the pocket. It makes a defined, angular move off the spot.
How QR-12 Solid Creates the Midlane Read
QR-12 stands for Quick Response. The Solid Reactive formula grips the lane surface aggressively. It reads oil patterns early and creates traction in the midlane. The 1500 Grit finish is polished for a solid coverstock. That’s more length than most sanded solids provide. The polish lets the ball clear the heads on oily lanes. Then the QR-12 Solid formula takes over in the midlane. You get the best of both worlds. Clean heads. Strong midlane read. Powerful continuation to the pins.
DynamiCore Technology
The Synthesis features DynamiCore outer core technology from Brunswick Bowling Products. DynamiCore reduces energy loss at impact. More energy transfers to the pins for improved carry. You’ll notice better pin action on off-pocket hits. DynamiCore has been a consistent advantage across Track’s performance lineup.

💡 BowlersMart Tips: Using the Synthesis on Medium-Heavy Oil
First Ball Out of the Bag
The Synthesis is designed to be your starting ball on fresh, oily conditions. Throw it first when the pattern is at full volume. The QR-12 Solid coverstock reads oil that lighter balls can’t handle. As the pattern breaks down and the heads dry out, the Synthesis will start hooking too early. That’s your signal to move to a hybrid or pearl. The Synthesis handles the heaviest part of the block. Let your other equipment handle transition.
Pairing With the Stealth Mode Hybrid
The Synthesis and Stealth Mode Hybrid make a natural pair in a Track bag. The Synthesis handles fresh medium-heavy oil with its solid coverstock. The Stealth Mode Hybrid takes over during transition with more length and versatility. Both are high-quality Track equipment on different platforms. Moving from Synthesis to Stealth Mode is a smooth, logical transition during any session.
Surface Adjustments
The factory 1500 Grit is polished for a solid coverstock. That creates more length than most sanded solids. For earlier read on very heavy oil, take it to 1000 or 500 grit. That gives the QR-12 Solid maximum midlane traction. For more length on medium conditions, maintain the 1500 Grit or add light polish. The QR-12 Solid responds well to surface changes. Small grit adjustments produce clear differences in ball motion.
When the Synthesis Gets Overmatched
On dry or medium-light conditions, the Synthesis hooks too much. The low RG reads immediately. The high differential flares aggressively. The result is a ball that burns up in the midlane. That’s not what it was designed for. Step down to something with more length and less total hook. Going the other direction — on extremely flooded patterns, even the Synthesis may need more surface. Take it to 500 grit for maximum traction in those rare situations.
Coverstock Maintenance
Solid coverstocks absorb oil faster than any other cover type. Clean the ball with an approved cleaner after every session. Don’t skip this step. A dirty QR-12 Solid will lose its midlane read and feel flat. If the ball stops hooking or reads later than expected, resurface it. A fresh 1500 Grit finish restores the factory reaction. Consider a deep clean or bake every 30-50 games to extract absorbed oil.
