Description
Aggressive Asymmetric Traction for Heavy Oil
About the RST Hyperdrive
The Roto Grip RST Hyperdrive answers one request the bowling world kept making: greater traction with asymmetric power to fend off heavier, longer oil. It is an aggressively designed asymmetric ball, built specifically for medium-heavy to heavy oil conditions, pairing the strong RST Core + AI with the nanoparticle-infused MicroTrax Solid Reactive coverstock.
The RST Hyperdrive wraps that asymmetric RST core in the MicroTrax Solid cover at a 2000-grit finish, in a bold Blue, Orange, and Red cosmetic. The nanoparticle-loaded solid grabs the oil early and hard, while the asymmetric core delivers the flare and continuation to clear heavy volume. It is the high-performance HP4 traction piece in the Roto Grip lineup.
Understanding the Roto Grip RST Core + AI and Roto Grip MicroTrax Solid Reactive
Roto Grip built the RST Hyperdrive for traction on the heaviest conditions. Specifically, the asymmetric RST Core + AI reads the mid-lane strongly and keeps driving with heavy flare, while the MicroTrax Solid cover uses infused nanoparticles to generate exceptional oil traction, then a sanded 2000-grit finish to grab the lane early. As a result, it provides strong, early-reading hook with asymmetric continuation, exactly what heavy and longer oil patterns demand. The full per-weight specifications are listed below.
A Strong Asymmetric Core Built to Drive Through Heavy Oil
At the heart of the RST Hyperdrive is the asymmetric RST Core + AI. At 15 lb it measures RG 2.52, a strong .055 differential, and a .017 intermediate differential (mass bias), numbers that produce heavy flare and a powerful, defined asymmetric motion. That high differential creates the track flare needed to clear oil, while the asymmetric shape gives the ball a strong, continuous read through the mid-lane.
This is an aggressive engine designed for volume. The RST core reads early and keeps driving toward the pocket rather than rolling out, so it holds its energy through heavier, longer patterns. Because it is asymmetric, layout has a strong influence on the reaction, so your pro shop can position the pin and mass bias to lean the motion earlier or more angular to match your game.
A Nanoparticle-Infused Solid for Exceptional Oil Traction
The RST Hyperdrive wraps that core in the MicroTrax Solid Reactive coverstock, finished at 2000 grit. MicroTrax is infused with nanoparticles that dramatically increase oil traction, so the solid cover grabs the lane earlier and harder than a standard reactive. At a sanded 2000-grit finish, it reads the front and mid-lane aggressively, which is exactly what you need when the oil is heavy and long.
That early, strong traction is what makes the RST Hyperdrive a true heavy-oil piece. The nanoparticle solid digs through volume that would push a weaker cover down the lane, and the strong asymmetric core turns that traction into continuous, driving hook. Leave it at the 2000-grit box surface for maximum traction, or polish it up at your pro shop for a cleaner read when the volume drops.

Who This Ball Is Right For
✓Tournament Players: A strong asymmetric solid for the heaviest, longest oil, the first ball out of the bag when the volume is up
✓Higher-Rev Bowlers: The strong RST core and nanoparticle solid reward revs with heavy flare and continuous, driving hook
✓Heavy-Oil Specialists: Built to dig through volume that pushes weaker covers down the lane, with asymmetric continuation to the pocket
✓Arsenal Builders: The traction benchmark at the top of the bag, the strong solid you start with on fresh, heavy patterns
Good to Know Before You Buy
·Strong, aggressive motion: This is a high-flare piece built for traction. If you want a controlled, lower-hook reaction, a lower-differential ball will suit you better.
·Ships sanded for traction: The 2000 Grit finish is built to grip in oil. Polish it for more length when the volume drops.
·Asymmetric layout sensitivity: Layout choices shift the reaction more than on a symmetric ball. Match the pin and mass bias to your game with your pro shop.
·Sold undrilled: Ships without finger holes, so it can be fitted to your hand and span.
BowlersMart Tips: Where the RST Hyperdrive Fits in Your Roto Grip Arsenal
Where It Fits in Your Arsenal
In the Roto Grip lineup, the RST Hyperdrive is your heavy-oil traction piece. It attacks the freshest, heaviest volume with an early, strong read that cleaner pearls and hybrids cannot match, then drives continuously through the pins. It sits at the strong end of the bag, the ball you start with on a fresh, oily pattern and step down from as the lanes transition and open up.
Surface Adjustments
The 2000-grit finish is built for maximum traction on heavy oil. Take it even lower for more bite, or polish it up for a cleaner, longer read when the volume drops. Have surface changes done at your pro shop for an even, consistent finish.
Coverstock Care
Wipe the MicroTrax Solid cover with an approved reactive ball cleaner after every session, and deep clean it periodically. A nanoparticle solid at a low grit absorbs oil quickly, so keeping it clean preserves the exceptional traction that defines the RST Hyperdrive.
