Long and Strong Asymmetric Power
About the RST Hyperdrive Pearl
The Roto Grip RST Hyperdrive Pearl builds on the success of the original RST Hyperdrive and takes it in a cleaner, longer direction. It keeps the strong RST Core + AI asymmetric engine but wraps it in the U-R1 Pearl Reactive coverstock at a Power Edge polish, so you get the same asymmetric power with more length and a sharper backend.
The RST Hyperdrive Pearl is the long-and-strong piece in the line, finished in a bold Blue and Purple cosmetic. The polished pearl cover conserves energy through the front of the lane and saves it for a strong, angular move at the breakpoint, while the asymmetric RST core supplies the flare and continuation. It is the high-performance HP4 pearl for medium-heavy oil and transitioning patterns.
Understanding the Roto Grip RST Core + AI and Roto Grip U-R1 Pearl Reactive
Roto Grip built the RST Hyperdrive Pearl for length with asymmetric power. Specifically, the asymmetric RST Core + AI delivers heavy flare and a strong, continuous read, while the U-R1 Pearl cover at a Power Edge polish conserves energy through the fronts and stores it for a defined, angular move down-lane. As a result, it clears the heads more easily than the solid RST Hyperdrive, then makes a sharper backend, which is exactly what you want when the lanes have transitioned or you need more length on medium-heavy oil. The full per-weight specifications are listed below.
A Strong Asymmetric Core With Heavy Flare and Continuation
At the heart of the RST Hyperdrive Pearl is the asymmetric RST Core + AI, the same strong engine as the original RST Hyperdrive. At 15 lb it measures RG 2.52, a strong .055 differential, and a .017 intermediate differential (mass bias), numbers that produce heavy flare and a powerful, defined asymmetric motion. The high differential creates the track flare to clear oil, while the asymmetric shape gives a strong, continuous read.
On the Pearl, that strong core is paired with a cleaner cover, so the asymmetric power comes with extra length and a sharper finish. Because the core is asymmetric, layout has a strong influence on the reaction, so your pro shop can position the pin and mass bias to lean the motion earlier or more angular to match your game.
A Polished Pearl for Length and a Strong, Angular Backend
The RST Hyperdrive Pearl wraps that core in the U-R1 Pearl Reactive coverstock, finished at Power Edge polish. The pearl additive and polished surface conserve energy through the front of the lane, so the Pearl pushes cleanly through the heads, then makes a strong, angular move when it reaches the friction. It reads later and sharper than the sanded, solid RST Hyperdrive.
That length-and-angle shape is what makes the Pearl so useful as the lanes transition. When the solid RST Hyperdrive starts reading too early, the polished U-R1 Pearl gets the ball down the lane and still finishes with strong, asymmetric backend. Leave it polished for the most length, or take the surface down at your pro shop for an earlier, smoother read when the oil increases.

Who This Ball Is Right For
✓Tournament Players: A strong asymmetric pearl for length and angle as the lanes transition off the fresh
✓Higher-Rev Bowlers: The strong RST core rewards revs with heavy flare and a sharp, angular backend off the dry
✓Stronger Stylists: Asymmetric power with the cleaner length of a pearl, for medium-heavy oil that has started to open
✓Arsenal Builders: The length-and-angle complement to the solid RST Hyperdrive, the pearl you move to as the pattern breaks down
Good to Know Before You Buy
·Strong, aggressive motion: This is a high-flare piece built for traction. If you want a controlled, lower-hook reaction, a lower-differential ball will suit you better.
·Ships polished: The Power Edge (Polished) finish runs clean and long out of the box. For an earlier read on heavier oil, take the surface down at your pro shop.
·Asymmetric layout sensitivity: Layout choices shift the reaction more than on a symmetric ball. Match the pin and mass bias to your game with your pro shop.
·Sold undrilled: Ships without finger holes, so it can be fitted to your hand and span.
BowlersMart Tips: Where the RST Hyperdrive Pearl Fits in Your Roto Grip Arsenal
Where It Fits in Your Arsenal
In the Roto Grip lineup, the RST Hyperdrive Pearl is the long-and-strong asymmetric pearl. Where the solid RST Hyperdrive attacks the freshest, heaviest oil with an early read, the Pearl steps in as the heads open up: it clears the fronts more easily and finishes with a strong, angular backend. It pairs naturally just below the solid RST Hyperdrive and above your cleaner, weaker pearls.
Surface Adjustments
The Power Edge polish is a length-and-angle setup out of the box. Take the surface down with a higher-grit pad for an earlier, smoother read on more oil, or re-polish to restore length. Have surface changes done at your pro shop for an even, consistent finish.
Coverstock Care
Wipe the U-R1 Pearl cover with an approved reactive ball cleaner after every session, and deep clean it periodically. Keeping a pearl cover clean preserves the length and the strong, angular backend that make the RST Hyperdrive Pearl so effective in transition.
