Pro bowling is getting a new shape in 2027.

On October 27 the PBA and its parent company, Lucky Strike Entertainment, released the 2027 PBA Tour broadcast schedule. The announcement calls it “the most significant tournament restructuring and reimagined broadcast presentation in PBA history.” The televised season runs from February 21 to June 19, and the PBA says it will bring 30 live events to The CW, the ESPN App, CBS, Paramount+, and CBS Sports Network, with qualifying rounds on BowlTV.

The big idea is structure. Twelve straight weeks of Sunday finals. Five majors spaced through the spring. A brand-new postseason bracket. And one finish line at the PBA World Championship. Here is what changed, the full schedule, and how to watch.

What Is New for 2027

Championship Sundays

The season opens February 21 with PBA Opening Weekend in Los Angeles. That same day starts what the PBA calls Championship Sundays: 12 consecutive weeks of PBA Tour finals, live on The CW from 4 to 6 PM ET. The lone exception is April 11, when the PBA Doubles Championship airs from 1 to 3 PM ET. Every CW telecast also streams live through CW Sports on the ESPN App, so you can watch on any device.

Four of the year’s five majors land in that Sunday run, along with four PBA Signature Series events, the PBA Pete Weber Championship, and the Doubles Championship.

An All-Star Game in New York City

The Sunday run also includes a new PBA All-Star Game hosted in New York City on The CW. The schedule lists it as the PBA All-Star Event on Sunday, May 2, one week before the Tournament of Champions.

Team USA vs. The World Returns on CBS

In late April the PBA Tour adds CBS and Paramount+. The first CBS telecast brings back what the PBA calls its global rivalry, Team USA vs. The World, on Saturday, April 24. It is a fitting showcase for a tour whose players come from more than 30 countries.

The First-Ever PBA Playoffs

This is the headline change. In June, the Road to the PBA World Championship begins with the first-ever PBA Playoffs, which the PBA describes as “a 33-player, win-and-advance bracket” on CBS Sports Network. Win and you move on. Lose and your season is over.

The bracket opens Thursday, June 10, runs second-round and third-round telecasts through June 16, and wraps with the semifinals on Saturday, June 19. The weekend before, four PBA World Series of Bowling (WSOB) championships air June 5 and 6 on CBS Sports Network. The announcement does not yet say how players earn their 33 spots.

One Finish Line

It all ends on Saturday, June 19, with the PBA World Championship finals live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+. The PBA calls it “the most prestigious title in bowling,” and lately it has belonged to one man. EJ Tackett won it in 2023, 2024, 2025, and again in June 2026, the first player in PBA history to win the same title event four years in a row. In 2027 he will be chasing five, and this time the road runs through a bracket.

“The 2027 PBA Tour will be a season with a clear beginning, middle, and end, where every event matters and every week builds toward something bigger.”

Peter Murray, PBA CEO

Murray framed the rest of the season the same way: “Championship Sundays provide appointment viewing, our Majors create milestones throughout the season, and the introduction of the PBA Playoffs gives fans a true postseason before the sport’s biggest stage, the PBA World Championship.”

The Five Majors

  • GoBowling US Open: Sunday, March 7, on The CW
  • USBC Masters: Sunday, March 28, on The CW
  • PBA Players Championship: Sunday, April 18, on The CW
  • PBA Tournament of Champions: Sunday, May 9, on The CW
  • PBA World Championship: Saturday, June 19, on CBS and Paramount+

From early March to early May there is a major every three weeks, then a six-week build to the World Championship. That is the “milestones throughout the season” idea in action.

Two storylines to circle. The USBC Masters is the one major standing between EJ Tackett and the career Grand Slam, after he lost the 2026 title match by a single pin. And the Players Championship moves from February to April 18. Last season it was the first major on the calendar, and rookie Brandon Bonta won it with a 300 game in the title match.

How to Watch the 2027 PBA Tour

The View From the Pro Shop Counter

The 2027 season lines up with the back half of league season. From late February into May, the best bowlers in the world will be on TV the same week you are bowling league.

Watch the finals with a bowler’s eye. Notice where the players stand and where they target as the pair breaks down, when they make a move, and when they reach for a different ball. Tour players move and switch equipment because the oil changes under them. It is the same transition you fight on league night, just on tougher patterns and with more on the line.

If something you see on a Sunday makes you rethink your own bag, bring the question to one of our pro shops. Our staff can talk through what the pros are doing and what actually fits your game.
