BREAKING: The CW Network and the PBA Strike a Deal

CW Network and PBA Ink Multi-Year Broadcast Agreement to Expand Professional Bowling Viewership
The CW Network has taken a major step in expanding its sports programming, partnering with the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) in a multi-year broadcast agreement. Starting in 2026, this exciting deal will bring professional bowling to viewers across the country with ten live events per year. These events are scheduled for Sunday afternoons with dedicated two-hour broadcasts, marking a new era in sports broadcasting for both the CW and the PBA.
This collaboration represents an incredible opportunity to elevate professional bowling, a sport with deep American roots and a wide following. From seasoned fans to those newly discovering the sport, the CW Network’s reach and commitment promise unparalleled exposure for the PBA.
Expanding Sports Programming on the CW Network
Known as America’s fifth major broadcast network, the CW has been steadily growing its sports portfolio. With broadcasts that already include the NASCAR Xfinity Series, ACC and Pac-12 college football, and AVP professional beach volleyball, the addition of the PBA further strengthens its lineup. The CW’s consistent sports programming has garnered significant viewership, as seen with the NASCAR Xfinity Series, which averaged over one million viewers per race in early 2025.
The inclusion of professional bowling in the CW Sports lineup demonstrates the network’s dedication to diversifying entertainment options. Senior Vice President of Sports at the CW Network, Mike Perman, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership by stating, “We are thrilled to partner with the PBA and add live bowling to our CW Sports lineup. Bowling is one of the leading participatory sports in the country, and we’re excited to bring its top players and competitions to new audiences nationwide.”
What the Multi-Year Agreement Means for Professional Bowling
Bowling has long been one of America’s favorite pass-times, evolving into a professional sport that commands respect on the global stage. Since its founding in 1958, the PBA has delivered high-impact tournaments featuring elite-level talent. Legends of the game and contemporary stars alike have cemented the PBA’s dominance in professional bowling. Athletes like EJ Tackett, a 3-time Player of the Year, Jason Belmonte, a 7-time Player of the Year, alongside Kyle Troup and Anthony Simonsen, showcase the skill, personality, and drama that define the PBA.
The CW Network’s partnership with the PBA is poised to bring this excitement to wider audiences. By offering consistent national broadcasts, the agreement ensures easier access for fans, both loyal and new, while creating compelling sports entertainment. According to Lev Ekster, President of Lucky Strike Entertainment (the parent company of the PBA), the deal offers a “game-changing platform” to elevate the sport. Ekster added, “The CW’s commitment to consistent, high-visibility broadcasts allows us to grow our fanbase, celebrate the immense talent of our athletes, and bring fresh energy to one of America’s most beloved sports.”
Key Features of the Partnership:
- Dedicated Broadcast Times: Live events will air in two-hour slots on consecutive Sunday afternoons, making professional bowling a weekend staple.
- Expanded Sports Reach: The CW’s national network ensures coverage across all U.S. households, amplifying the PBA’s visibility.
- A Push for New Audiences: With the CW’s broader audience base, casual sports fans will have the chance to fall in love with the excitement of professional bowling.
Driving Engagement Through Star Power and Diverse Styles
The PBA is renowned not only for its high-level competition but also for the dazzling personalities and diverse playing styles of its athletes. Stars like Jason Belmonte, a six-time major champion, blend skill with flair, captivating longtime fans and enticing newcomers. Iconic moments such as impossible spare conversions and tension-filled championship matches are hallmarks of the PBA experience.
The CW Network’s move to highlight these athletes and events ensures fans will witness all the drama and thrill of the bowling circuit. This partnership also helps grow the sport by inspiring young bowlers and showcasing professional bowling as an exciting career path.
Why the Partnership Benefits Both the CW and the PBA
For the CW Network, the PBA adds a unique sport to its growing sports portfolio. Bowling has a dedicated fanbase and multi-generational popularity that make it a valuable addition to the CW’s offerings. The partnership also complements the network’s increasingly diverse range of sports, ensuring year-round programming that appeals to different audience demographics.
On the other hand, the PBA gains unparalleled exposure. Access to the CW’s national audience could help grow the sport’s fanbase significantly. The consistent broadcast schedule will make it easier for casual viewers to tune in and become invested in the sport.
Additional Benefits:
- Greater Advertising Opportunities – Both parties gain from expanded sponsorship and advertising options during two-hour broadcasts.
- Enhanced Fan Experience – Viewers can count on accessible, high-quality broadcasts that celebrate the skill and talent of professional bowlers.
- Elevated Sports Status – Consistent airing on a major broadcast outlet helps raise the PBA’s profile within the broader sports industry.

The first live event under this agreement will air in 2026, and fans are already looking forward to what promises to be thrilling bowling action. While the official dates and schedule are yet to be announced, this partnership signifies a bright future for professional bowling on television.
For fans eager to tune in, the CW Network offers robust streaming options via its ad-supported app, available across multiple platforms. This app bolsters accessibility and ensures viewers can enjoy PBA matches in real-time.

I don’t know how I feel about this?? On the one hand it’s great that the PBA has a new home and I can get the channel. However, FOX did a great job with their broadcasts and I’m going to miss that!
Hopefully the CW won’t deviate too much from the “norm” and hire the FOX bowling TV crew!
It’s great the PBA will be on the CW BUT, the pba needs atleast 15 events.
I hope they will hire some of the same people like Kimberly Pressly and Randy. Fox had great coverage og prelims and finals with the championship game with no commercials
Will miss Fox and CW has some big shoes to fill
I’m sorry to see bowling leave Fox, they did a great job promoting the sport of bowling and the pros.I’m to see that bowling will still be on television., and and I’m looking forward to watching The telecast on the CW and Hope that the CW will have a great broadcasting crew and promote the sport and the pro bowlers and grow the sport of bowling.
Any scuttlebutt as to who the broadcast team will be ?
Feels like a major step backwards for the PBA to me. Directv doesn’t even carry the CW Network in high def where I live. 10 events a year is a disappointment for fans and professionals alike. Can’t imagine that the prize money from so few events will allow many pros to make a living in the sport. This could be the end of the PBA.
