The Storm Concept redefines how core and cover work together, delivering a level of control and consistency that reactive balls alone often cannot achieve. Part of the SPI Lab Series, it flips the usual design logic: the ARC Pearl coverstock acts as both the engine and the tires, gripping the lane for continuous motion, while the Radius Core keeps the ball on line without locking up.

Designed for situations where bowlers traditionally reach for urethane, the Concept shines on short patterns and flat, demanding conditions, anywhere you need a smooth, controlled reaction rather than a sharp backend hook. As a two-piece ball with a thick resin shell, it combines the smooth, predictable qualities of urethane with the versatility and driving power of a modern reactive ball.

Understanding the Storm Radius Core and Storm ARC Pearl Reactive

Storm built the Concept to behave like urethane while driving like resin. Specifically, the symmetric Radius Core has a very high RG and a very low differential, so it produces almost no flare and keeps the ball on a smooth, controlled line, while the ARC Pearl cover at a 1000-grit finish does the gripping for continuous, predictable motion. A High-RG, Low-Differential Core That Keeps the Ball on Line

At the heart of the Concept is the symmetric Radius Core. At 15 lb it measures a very high RG of 2.61 with a very low .020 differential, numbers that produce almost no track flare and a smooth, controlled motion. Rather than driving the reaction, the Radius weight block is designed to keep the ball on line without locking up, leaving the coverstock to do the work.

That low-flare, on-line behavior is exactly what makes the Concept feel like urethane. The high RG and minimal differential keep the reaction smooth and predictable instead of sharp, so the ball holds its line through short and flat patterns. The Concept wraps that core in Storm’s ARC Pearl Reactive coverstock at a 1000-grit finish. In the Concept’s reversed design, the cover is the star: it acts as both the engine and the tires, gripping the lane to create continuous, predictable motion through the pins rather than a sharp, late backend hook.

That continuous read is what makes the Concept a true urethane alternative. On short patterns and flat, demanding conditions, the ARC Pearl carries through the pins for strong, lively action while keeping the motion smooth and controllable.
