2019 Season

Simonsen became the youngest player to win two majors (he’s also the youngest to win one) when he bested Jason Belmonte in the Players Championship. Six months later, Simonsen won his second title of the year in the Bear Open. He made it to the stepladder finals in three of the five majors, was knocked out in the semifinals of the PBA Playoffs by eventual champion Kris Prather and earned the most money of his PBA Tour career.

2020 Outlook

We should see a more consistent Simonsen in 2020. Although he was dominant in the back half of 2019, he spent most of the first part of the season either finishing in the top 10 or well outside the cut. According to an informal survey of his PBA Tour peers, Simonsen is among the top three most talented players out there. At only 22 years of age, Simonsen is entering his sixth full-time season on the PBA Tour and he’s proven he can win the big ones. With a little more consistency early, this could be Simonsen’s year to seriously contend for his first Player of the Year award.
