CBS has given the go ahead to a new comedy series starring PBA player Tom Smallwoods story. The show will be released in mid-season with an air date yet to be announced.
The comedy stars comedian Pete Holmes as Smallwood, and revolves around his life story of being laid off from the General Motors factory before he chased his dream of becoming one of the best bowlers in the world.
CBS has given the green light for the Tom Smallwood comedy series after ordering a pilot for it in March. It will be a mid-season comedy.
Since making the difficult choice to become a professional bowler, Smallwood has found success by winning two major titles.
Tom Smallwood’s inspirational story is well known within the bowling community. An opportunity to tell that tale to a wider audience with an eye towards promoting the sport of professional bowling could boost public interest in this popular, albeit niche sport.
